blower motor.

I searched and found some answers but not the right ones...

I just got home from being out of state for 2 months and some mice decided to make a nest somewhere near the intake for the blower motor or inside the blower motor itself. When the truck warmed up it smelled like rat piss inside the cab, but it stinks hardcore like rat piss under the hood too. rat droppings under the hood but nothing inside the truck, and no chewed wiring. Blower motor humms now so I wanted to pull it. Whats the best place to start looking and also, does anyone have a good desrciption one how to cut the brittle rubber suround to remove the blower motor without have to pull the fender and all that other BS?

Re: blower motor.

not sure on the blazer/jimmy. i pulled the blower motor on
my wife's tahoe. it was under the passenger side dash.
not too bad; see the post. the user "team d.a.t.a." posted some pics--
you have to register for a userid to see them. i had my
10 yr old son help with reaching in the hard places.

Re: blower motor.

Well, you might have to remove your ecm/coolant overflow to remove the blower motor. But just cut on the dotted lines, I don't know why they added that external covering, stupid engineering, but I believe it has a regular case underneath it, same as found in the trucks so the external piece is useless. But just carefully cut it, remove the screws holding it in, they can be a PIA to remove. And careful not to drop them, i've lost several doing that. But otherwise, just see what you can find and maybe hose it out, but be careful not to hose too much towards the cab as you will get water inside.

Re: blower motor.

I agree with the above, you dont really want to replace the motor if you dont have to. I'm fairly sure the dash will have to come out.
