Blinker Noise
You know that noise you here when your blinkers on, well sometimes mine makes the noise at random. I have to checked to make sure that my blinkers are working properly, and they dont go on when the noise happens. Anybody know whats wrong? I figure I just have to replace or take out that blinker noise making peice. i think it is located on the passenger side. Its just a pain in the ass sometimes, so I turn up the music so I cant here it.If anyone has had this problem before.

Re: Blinker Noise
idk about that, but i hate how you can hear the blinkers from the passenger side. ever since my sister pointed that out to me I notice it now and it drives me nuts, never noticed it before she pointed it out though...

Re: Blinker Noise
I don't think he has a problem with the noise, but the fact that it comes on infrequently without the use of turnsignals. Besides, the turn your radio up fix is reserved for the female gender in our society. Does this happen more when you are turning corners or applying some pressure to the steering wheel or the signal switch? That noise making device is called a Flasher Relay and should only make noise when electricity is supplied to it through the turnsignal switch. But some other manufactures route the power through the relay to the switch and then back through the relay again. As the relay fails it can sometimes short across, I am not sure exactly how our S10's are routed. In most cases the relays only function is to regulate the frequency of the flashing, your signal switch just routes power to the correct wire that correlates to the direction your vehicle is turning. |

The noise part was for shorts10, who said he didn't like the noise. Pay attention.

Re: Blinker Noise
Yes the multi-function switch has shorted internally. It will eventually do it all the time. Get a new one before your turn signals quit working altogether.

Re: Blinker Noise
FYI guys!
My blinker was driving me crazy. I read it was a short in the multifunction switch caused by old grease / lubricant used in the making of the switch. Well I found an easy fix!! Took the steering colum cover off, exposing the multifunction switch. Removing the multifunction switch is a biatch... So I went to an electronics store an bought a can of electronic degreaser with silicone lubricant. It looks like a can of compressed air. The solvent inside breaks down all the grease and leaves a film of silicone lubrican. I sprayed the multifunction switch at all it's opening. then shook the turn signal stock. then sprayed some more. soaked it. I let it dry and never had a problem since. home this helps someone else! Cheers! Eric |
