blew trans line with wait4me pcm
So I got a wait4me pcm and had him remove the torque managament, adjust shift points and increase the line pressure a tad along with some other stuff...so I installed it this morning as I am off from work and as I'm tooling around I see a cloud of white smoke behind me I pull over and pop the hood and notice that one of the rubber hoses that has what looks to be an inline trans filter in it has blown off...so I let it cool down, I top off the trans fluid and swap out computers....all seems fine but I was wondering what I should about that line if I want to run the wait4me pcm any suggestions would be helpful...feel free to move this to the trans forum too

Re: blew trans line with wait4me pcm
I've never seen an inline trans filter from the factory. Sounds like someone did a poor installation on yours. If the line was just cut and not flared, the rubber hose will tend to slip off under pressure. Tubing flare tools are cheap at places like Harbor Freight. Flare the tubing ends and install a new filter with good stainless hose clamps. Of course, you could just eliminate the filter with a tubing union, which is what I would do.
Then put the wait4me pcm back in and have some fun! |

Re: blew trans line with wait4me pcm
Yup, I would remove the inline filter. The tranny filter is enough. The inline filter builds up too much line back pressure. I installed an external cooler. I used brass fittings everywhere except the return line. The return line has two clamps.
I'll be ordering the wait4me pcm upgrade next week. By the time I return from vaction, the PCM should be back ready to install!! |
