Well i took my moms blazer to 2 tranny shops today and both told me that it needs to be rebuilt. I dont have reverse 2nd or overdrive. im gonna just end up replacing it with a reman or used. My ? is what years will work best to do a swap into a 99 blazer with 4.3 auto(4l60e) 4wd? and anybody got a trans to get rid of that will work. im in the nj area and would like to pick up. thanks

Re: blazer tranny swap

no, mines not a 4wd, it took me a weekend, i payed about 430 for it than i screwed up the front pump when i installed the torque converter and didnt feel like dropping it again, so, i took it to a tranny shop and had them install it for me. they charged me 250 if i remember correctly. but i actually had it installed and everything before i figured out the front pump was screwed up. the trannys are the same for 2 or 4wd, but i dont know how much more work is involved with the transfer case and all

No, they have different output shafts and the transfer case bolts to where the tailshaft housing is on the 2wd.

OK, but since he was asking what would work I thought it would be important to know that the 2wd and 4wd trannies are NOT interchangeable.
