blazer overheating

i am having a problem with my blazer. i just got back from a deployment and now its overheating. the crazy thing is that it seems to be heating up while i drive but when i stop it cools down. alittle backwards right. i have a 180 thermostat that i installed about 2 or 3 years ago. it also doesnt have heat anymore. could that be the thermostat having gone bad? im thinking that it is. im a little nervous that it could be the water pump. what do yall think?

Re: blazer overheating

not if the thermostat is stuck open. it can allow the coolant to pass to fast thru the rad and not cool while driving

Re: blazer overheating

It had to be a thermostat problem mixed with low antifreeze. ANY time you don't have heat, it's because you're low on Antifreeze, or theres a bubble you need to burp out of the system, and fill it again.. but yeah man, good to hear you got that taken care of... Hope you did it yourself, save some money.
