Re: blazer mileage
I agree with George. A 2wd will do better though. With my 4-door 4x4 I get around 15 in town and 18-19 on the highway. I also drive fast always. I made a 750 mile round trip to central Missouri 2 weeks ago and managed 18.6 overall. That's running 75-80 (couple blasts over 90) with AC on and temps over 100 (It was 105 when I left to drive back).
My S10 was a 4.3 5spd ZQ8 and I could easily do over 21mpg even running fast with AC on. |

I got 21.87 mpg in my 4x4 Jimmy yesterday on a 320 mile trip. I was surprised.

Re: blazer mileage
If you want good mileage you might want to look at 4 banger rice burners instead of SUVs. The term "SUV" and "Economy" don't go together.

Re: blazer mileage
yeah, my S-10 with the V8 used to get better gas milage till i put the 3:73's in it. now it swallows the gas.. but the jimmy on the other hand has always swallowed the gas like mad.. but the four wheel sure is nice when we get them new england winter storms.

Re: blazer mileage
68,000 Thats an average of just driving to work for a few days with about 20 redlights in a 20 mile stretch. I know my highway is about 21-22 last time i was on a long drive.

Re: blazer mileage
Interesting. Did it need a tune up? I've got almost 82k on mine and I've never tuned it up. It starts instantly, and I mean instant! Doesn't even crank even after being parked a week or more! Because it starts and runs so good I've kinda avoided doing a tune-up for fear it might not run as well!
How do you get such good highway mileage? My problem is I drive fast and run the AC most of the time. |

Re: blazer mileage
it just got new plugs, new mobile 1 super syn oil with mobile 1 filter, cleaned the MAF and the K&N cone filter, it made a huge difference, oh and also seafoamed it. I drive fast too, but i have been trying to keep it down to save the gas, having that trip computer that shows instant mileage really helps.

Re: blazer mileage
233k and counting on mine, and I knock down 22-26, depending on the speed...and mines all stock
.....at 75+, it's 19-22, at 75 and below, it's 22-26...guess which speeds I've been driving lately. I have a 104 mile round trip commute, if all I do is go to the office and nothing else. Last edited by HawkZ28 : 09-06-2005 at 12:35 PM. Reason: typo on speed |
