Bags vs. Static drop.

I recently purchased a 2dr 2wd blazer. I love my truck, but it sits way too high. I know I want to drop it but I'm not sure if I want to bag it or just do a static drop. I'm sure this may stir up some serious controversy. I don't want a full blown show truck. I have a 4 year old daughter and I still need the room to hold stuff for vacations and such. I already have my mind set on the xtreme kit and different wheels. Just not sure on whether I want bags or static ride. Just lookn for some pros and cons of both.

Re: Bags vs. Static drop.

here's my, non-expert, thought on ur question, i would say 2'' drop spindles and a 3'' block in the back, that way u can use the spindle if you do bag it and wont be in to much for the blocks.but that may not be low enough 4 you though, then u could do that plus 1.5-2'' coils and leafs(perhaps used ones from an xtreme). i dont know what ur funds will allow, or if ur skill levels are, if u want to do it your self, but if u have basic knowledge + hand tools i would recommend u start with a basic static yourself, but i am paranoid and dont trust anyone to work on my trucks.
But if u have the funds or think u can do it urself then go for the bags, just know it will bee harder than a pickup b/c u'll probably need to cut the floor and seal it back up b4 u want to drive it, and blazers have a curved frame above the axle which makes the notch harder to make.

like i said im not an expert but this is 2 cents so if anyone finds this incorrect go ahead and tell me thanks

Nick

yeah, but blazers are a pain in the ass due to the fact that any link system has to be custom made to fit the frame and all of your cargo room is gone and if you want to lay a 20" rim or larger in the back look forward to a lot of fabricating in order to keep your back seats. Since this guy says he still wants to haul stuff in the bag I dont just him doing the above mentioned.

Re: Bags vs. Static drop.

Bags are a huge amount of work and money. Not only are you replacing components, you are introducing an electrical and plumbing system into the mix as well. If you're not wanting to go super low, the choice is easy. I looked into building a performance bag set-up a while back. Not something that would lay frame, but something that was adjustable. The amount of work, money, and maintenance largely outweighed the few benefits of it.

Judging by what you said in your post, a static drop sounds right for you.

Re: Bags vs. Static drop.

I think I'm going to go with 2" spindles, 2" coils, ZQ8 leafs and 3" blocks. That should get it low and still keep it functional.
