autozone billet antenna

does anyone have one, are they junk "honestly". they're 10 bucks at the store and I'd rather just buy one instead of waiting for shipping plus they cost more to ship.

Re: autozone billet antenna

yea, they aren't really billet, maybe the base and the tip, but the shaft rusts..meh.

have at it if you want, i wouldn't waste my money on one, been there, done that..i like my shortened stock one, personally..signal is about the same as that crappy fake billet one anyways..

Re: autozone billet antenna

You can buy a real billet one from Billet Specialties for $20 that look good year after year. I bought a "stainless" one from ebay and it rusted after being on the car for about 3 months and it wasn't even winter! In the winter it turned into a total rust stick!.

Re: autozone billet antenna

Bottom line..if you had enough of an inclination to wonder aloud if they might be junk, then chances are, they are. Stick with your gut, and spend a few extra bucks now. $30 (give or take) for a long-term piece, or $10 for another seasonal piece you'll take off in the spring and put in the back of garage in the "I can't believe I bought one of those" pile.

I could've built the World's Most Pep-Boysieist Looking Dime with all the stuff that's gathered around our garage over the 10 years I've been fiddling with s-series.

Re: autozone billet antenna

I bought an APC billet antenna from pep boys auto parts for $12 about 5 years ago and it still looks good. It has no rust or anything on it. It has stayed shiny to this day. Maybe I got lucky.

Re: autozone billet antenna

APC one I bought 4 years ago is a stainless (i think) shaft and billet ends. Never rusted and I just wash it with the rest of the truck. No other maintenence.

Re: autozone billet antenna

I had an apc "billet" antenna on my fullsize back in highschool and not only did the "billet" chip off, the "billet" bent every time I'd go through a carwash.

Re: autozone billet antenna

I got one of the APC antennas, I paid like $1 for it. I use it to hit my kitty when she acts naughty.

Re: autozone billet antenna

i had one of the $10 antennas on my truck before i shaved it. Just polish when you hit your wheels and you're golden.
