Attention: Everyone with a 4dr Blazer (or similar) WITH tow/haul

To everyone out there who has the Tow/Haul option from the FACTORY, can you do me a real quick favor that will take you not anymore than 2 minutes of your time.

Can you go out to your glove box and where it has all of the RPO codes at, do you have this code:

U89

I would appreciate the feedback! Thanks!

But from my understanding, the U89 code only says that the vehicle was equipped with a wiring harness/car trailer (from the RPO site).

It doesn't say "Tow/Haul Option" or whatever. I'm just trying to see if there is a connection here between the U89 code and the vehicles equipped with the tow/haul option.

This may be quite the reach, but is there any chance that you have a picture of your BCM orangesonoma?

The side with the bar code and 6 colored squares.

I appreciate the help.

I just installed a 7 prong adaptor on my Jimmy. I used a hole saw. Looks great next to the Class III hitch.

Well I looked on my 01 but the RPO sticker is gone! There's just tiny remnants left, so I can't help but mine has a add on tow package.

I didnt think this was an option for our trucks. I can see where it would light up on my cluster, but I has no buttons for it.

Only the select few had the option. I've read that only 4 door, 4wd blazers had the option, too.

I want the BCM off of a 4 door blazer that has the option, then I'll be incorportating the tow/haul feature into my Zr2

edit: but the thing is, is that I'm not 100% sure what to look for when looking for a BCM to buy.... And I thougt that the U89 RPO code would lead to the tow/haul option, but as orangesonoma said, it doesn't

But on a serious note, I've been doing a little research, and I'm starting to think that ALL blazers had this "option" (tow/haul) but just didn't have the switch to hook things up..... IDK for sure.

If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be highly appreciated.

Holds you longer in each gear, and requires less amount of throttle to downshift. Also it eliminates overdrive.

I want to install a BCM from a blazer that had this option so that I'll have it on my truck. It'll be an inexpensive mod to incorporate into my Zr2.

This might explain what I'm trying to say better:

it doesnt eliminate overdrive, OD will still work with tow/haul on, but it also raises the line pressure

Yeah that's the thing.... my s10 Zr2 does NOT have the U89 RPO code and it DOES have trail wiring equipped, so the U89 code doen't really help us out here too much....

Well it's not the code that I'm looking for now. I've already established that the U89 code doesn't necessarily mean that the truck has the tow/haul option.

Thank you very much for the pic Brian, that helps me out a lot. So far I've found out that that exact P/N means that it does, in fact, have the tow/haul option.

DJDAudio: If you could, by chance, take a picture of your BCM, that would be GREAT. Your Jimmy is different than the envoy's BCM that Brian posted, so I just want to see if the Jimmy's P/N (with tow/haul) is the same as that envoy's BCM P/N.

I would really appreciate it.

Thanks everyone for all of your help, it means a lot

I've been thinking about this as well.....

If this was the case, would the truck start right back up if I put back in the original BCM?
