Question Anyone know how to fix my rear hatch?

So I was looking at it today and it's off by 1/2" at the bottom bodyline on the drivers side. Where the hatch closes and meets the 1/4 panels is about right on both sides. Anyone know how I could fix this?

"daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenburg county, down by the Green River where paradise lay? Well I'm sorry my son, but your too late in askin, Mr. Peabody's coal train's have hauled it away."
lol
good 4-wheeler ridin up there, one of dad's friends lives across road from some of the strip mines.
anyway, you might be able to slot the holes if there is a j-clip of something behind it. even if the body has a nut welded to it, you could cut it off or use a air hammer and knock it off and still slot the holes for the adjustment u need.

I live about 3 minutes from Paradise, used to go up and down the river all the time.

awesome man, i miss western ky

oooo i wasnt paying enough attention, you have liftgate, not tailgate. I haven't ever really paid close attention to those, mine is tailgate so i cant go look lol. but the hole slotting i was talking about wouldnt work on tailgate. the hinges are "glued" on, no bolts. what does the liftgate latch too? open ur gate and grab a couple pics of ur striker(s) and latch(s)

Ok will do, if you look at the pics above the tail light on the drivers side has almost no gap between the 1/4 and gate and below it has more, on the passengers side it is lined up right. I will tell you that I had the 1/4 replaced before and it's not 100% on there perfect, but everything else lines up right and you wouldn't notice it wasn't perfect unless I pointed it out, so I don't think that would cause it to be off by 1/2"

This is pissing me off to no extent, I'm seriously thinking about selling it and buying another 4 door.

Here ya go:
Close(it looks like the two panels rub, but they don't):

Gap:

Latch on the lift gate, it cannot be adjusted the way it is:

Striker on the body, it too cannot be adjusted the way it is:

Drivers Side Hinge:

Passengers Side Hinge:

Re: Anyone know how to fix my rear hatch?

man i tell you what, GM sure did **** us with these rear gates. they are all glued on, not damn bolts or adjustments. idk what you could do to straighten that out man. theres no adjustment to be made lol. im having a similiar issue with my rear liftglass, the top of it is pulled about 1/4 -1/2 inch away from the body and there is no way to move it closer. when it rains hard enough rain comes in around the top seal. so im gonna have to replace the whole back glass and pray thats the problem.

Re: Anyone know how to fix my rear hatch?

Well I got bad news for you, my grandparents have a 98 w/ a drop gate and theirs sticks up past the roof too. He went out and got another one, but it was the same.
I'm seriously thinking when I get the money going out and buying another one(cause I like them so much) swapping over the custom stuff and selling this one. If I ever go to put a pan on it it'll look like shit.

i have been tossing around the idea of putting a for sale sign on mine. i know where there is a IMMACULATE 2000 for sale for a very reasonable price and lower miles than mine. i love s10's too, i hate that GM quit making such a reliable vehicle. granted the replacements aren't that bad, but so much cheaper looking and feeling.
i was afraid of my glass being like that, i have carefully tried bending the hinges and holding on to hinges to keep them from separating from the glass but the glass still started popping and creaking. the hinges are so heavy duty and they are connected directly to the glass, theres not really anything i can do to fix it, except cut the body out where the glass mounts to the body and move it down and back about a 1/2 inch, and even i did that there would be no guarantee

Re: Anyone know how to fix my rear hatch?

That sucks. It didn't used to be like that did it? Probably a stupid question but what about wore hinges?

Re: Anyone know how to fix my rear hatch?

I don't know how long it's been like that. If the hinges were wore I'd think the other side wouldn't be lined up right as well
