Unhappy Alot Of Questions

I bought a used 2001 Blazer LS, with 42,000 miles since i have had it it has been in the shop 6 times for the heat, for some reason the heating system keeps clogging restricting any heat to make it into the cab. They flushed the entire heating system for three hours, i got the blazer back and the heat worked great for about a month, then just yesterday the heat crapped out again. What keeps clogging the system? or is there something else going on.

Second, it has a aftermarket keyless entry system, on the remote both the lock and unlock work, but when i press the panic button nothing happens, if i am to hold the panic button i can hear the blinkers go on and hear them click, but no lights flash and the horn doesnt sound. Could this be a fuse or did they not even hook up the panic button wires?

LOL, Third there is a black wire that comes out just above the break petal, its a thick black wire and at the end is a small black button, it is kind of weird never seen anything like that before, could this be a part of the aftermarket security system?
...thank you for your time

Re: Alot Of Questions

1 - not sure what might be clogging it up, but it could be a bad heater core causing the problems.
2 - Im thinking that it might be a fuse if the panic button doesn't work or maybe the remote its self may be bad try pulling it apart make sure the connections are clean
3 - posibly after market security, does it have remote start? most remote starts have a switch under the dash to disable it when working on the veichle and under the hood.

Re: Alot Of Questions

1 - i have this same problem...the orange dexcool antifreeze is what most people are saying is the cause
i usually just pull both heater hoses that go into the firewall out, then jam your garden hose in there for about 15 minutes each way...but that only works for about a month

2- its either a fuse or the installers were lazy and didnt do it right

3- its usually an emergeny kill switch for the alarm, try sounding the alarm from outside, then unlock the door and pres the button once, if once doesnt work, try two times....ect. ect. (if it doesnt work at all, try following the wire through the firewall, and see if it goes into the security system box)

Re: Alot Of Questions

Dexcool, There is a sticker on my Radiator that says use Dexcool only it is a factory sticker i beleive, if i switch to a diffrent brand perhaps it will stop clogging? Chevy has already put in two new heater cores, so i know that isnt the problem something is clogging the heater core i think

I cant sound the alarm to test to see if that switch by the brake pedal is some kind of alarm kill switch, i was thinking about buying a Chevy keyless remote off e-bay and programing it to my blazer and see if that panic button makes it work because maybe it is just my remote, Chevy said they had spare keys for my blazer but could not find them, so i am thinking the ones they cant find have the orginal keyless remote, and the one i have was just a spare.

When you program those do you also have to program the panic button? perhaps i can just re-program the one i have to get the panic button to work? Where can i find the security fuse box or, the "brain" for all the keyless remote stuff?

Sorry for all the questions, i cant seem to get answers from anyone, from chevy to best buy to small repair shops no one can help me so i thought i would turn here, Im going to take a picture of that wire next to my brake pedal, to show you guys this crazy goverment spy crap in my car LOL

Re: Alot Of Questions

If you switch to regular green stuff (which is fine) You need to do a complete acid flush on the rad... I would also change the thermostat as well..(even if you stay with dexcool, I would change the thermostat)..

As to your current alarm system, who makes it? Is there an aftermarket one in there w/ the stock keyless entry unit?

Re: Alot Of Questions

if you post the questions about the alarm in the sound and security section on this page, those guys will be able to help you out alot

and if you post the coolant question in the 262 section, you will get much more response
