airbag light on
I have a 98 Jimmy and the airbag light is on. It's been on a while but it's now driving me nuts and I want it off. I recently had to pull the dash out to replace the heater core (fun job), and when I got it back together and cranked it up the airbag light stayed on. I have no way to check the code but wondered if anyone could lead me to a solution on this. I checked all the connections under the dash that I can find and they all seem to be fine. The driver's side wasn't unplugged at all while the dash was out so I'm assuming it has something to do with the passenger's side but am not completely sure. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Aron |

Re: airbag light on
there are some sensors and wiring toward the front bumper, but i wouldnt touch it if I were you. Too great a risk of you accidently deploying the airbag, I've been driving 3 years with the ligh on and it doesnt bother me.

Re: airbag light on
I tried this succesfully in my former 2 door 1995 Blazer one air bag equipped. The air bag light came and went several times with no reasons and I got nuts. Finally I solved the problem. REMOVE BATT POST AS CAUTION to air bags deploy (and as it works in the Neons pull the e brake). Then go to the frame area (outside the cab I mean), just below the drivers seat (I'm recalling only and is located some place there) and you'll find a kind of a box in place with 2 bolts and with several wires and a plug. Try to improve the electrical contacts at the plug with contact cleaner or whatever the contact condition may require. Plug and bolt in place again. In my case it worked because one of the contacts at the internal zone of the plug was partially corroded.

Re: airbag light on
Try and get access to an OBD2 scanner (autozone) and read for trouble codes. This should help you get an idea for what to look for.

Re: airbag light on
Will the one's they use read body codes? I didn't think they would so I haven't tried there.
