A/C problem...
Hi all, I have a problem with my '96 Blazer's A/C.
At a stop/very low speeds, the A/C blows kinda cold. As I start going faster, the air gets warmer and warmer. I noticed that when it's set to max, I lose alot of air pressure to the floor vents. I thought that may be the problem, so I covered them up. I now get alot more pressure from the dash vents, but it still isn't very cold. I checked the freon levels, and they're fine. I've also noticed that if the air is turned off, when I reach high speeds a steady flow of air still comes from the vents. That leads me to my hypothesis. Obviously the flaps that control the airflow are messed up. It seems to me the outside air is being forced in through the cowl vents and out through the dash vents. Is it safe to cover these cowl vents up somehow? It would be super tacky and all, but at least I would have cool A/C (especially essential here in Florida). Help! ![]() |

Re: A/C problem...
I have the ticking on my 'noma as well. Also, when I take sharp corners, the hair blows warm. I don't really worry about it, I don't use my A/C much.

Re: A/C problem...
Search for it on the forum, it's to prevent CO buildup in the cab, there is a mod to disable it.

Re: A/C problem...
I don't know why you'd want to disable it though. If it's blowing warm air, just turn it to the cold setting on the A/C and it shouldn't be that warm. I don't like the idea of disabling safety features...even if it is a cheap feature. |

Re: A/C problem...
I have never driven any other car that has this feature of so much airflow, and yes, I am aware of the gray vaccum line plug mod to disable it as well.

Re: A/C problem...
How I can made that mod? The problem that I have is that I can get intoxicated with the CO of some unconcious drivers with crappy cars that throws smoke.
Please how can I disable exterior vent? |

Re: A/C problem...
Thank you!
Just resolved the problem, was not related with the gray vacuum line. The actuator that moves the outside-inside air circulation flap was not functioning. I just made the flap close and attached it with a tie-rap until someday I decide buy the actuator. BTW, also plugged the gray line just in case. The A/C now blows super cool and no bad odors in the cab. Take care!!!! |
