Question a bit indecisive..

i'de LOVE to turn me 94, 4dr 4WD blazer into a trail monster, but...i'm SO mechanically...retarded, to phrase differently...all i know how to do is check the fliud levels, add washer fluid, and pump gas (ok i can make it shine like a purdy diamond )...but...HOW...would i go about converting it into my offroad beast i want...oh...its stock..minus the new tranny, and cd system.

OH a side note..how easy is it to fix a vacuum line..i had it offroading..and i guess i popped the line off..cause i lost my 4WD in 4 inches of cake mud..(not the brightest move on my behalf taking it back in the middle of NO WHERE by my self to kick up some mud), but is it some thing i can fix in the field my self?, or would a tow out and take to shop deal be better off?

mind you, the pic is 2yrs old I've changed but the truck is still the same.

Well, Depends on what you really plan on doing witht the truck. Strictly mud?? Trail,?? Still be road legal?? Budget??. As for the vacuum line. You could to it yourself but you probably want to get it washed off. They can be hard to find.

Re: a bit indecisive..

definitely still road legal, more mud than trails..and budget it'd LOVE for it to be under $1500 since I bought it for $2500, and in just the last year put $2300 into it, including a 1900$ tranny..at most 2G since it'll be my weekend warrior....water..i always carry a spray bottle and a gallon of water (and a few "emergency" things) in the back just in case i DO go on an excursion and end up stranded some where

Well. Mud and road legal dont really go well together. I know this because I took a 2001 ford ranger in the mud. Not puddle jumping but top of wheel I think were in a tractor rut mudding and it took out bearings, brakes, cv joints, calipers and pretty much any moving part below the frame. But if you are dead set on playing in the mud with a $1500 budget. Body lift, winch wheels tires, selectable locker for the rear and remove the vacuum actuiator to engage the front axle and replace it with a cable. There used to be kits for it. Not sure if they are still around. Also make sure you have good pull points front and rear

yeah i JUST realized mud n road legal are like..mixing fish with peanut butter lol...they don't really mesh well...i'm debating on just turning it all mud n trail *mostly mud* and just bringing my 88 GMC out of retirement...the "beast" would never let me down..so i know it could capably haul the blazer no problem along with a trailer...i never thought I'd hear some one say they took an 01 ranger into the mud lol..i woulda paid to see that

all that mechanical talk...made no sense to me LMAO remember..i'm a bit mechanically ...retarded...i know how to do a hand full of things...and tinkering..isn't one of them..and i don't quite feel up to driving to east liverpool to my ex's house to have him tinker with it...ESPECIALLY since he had his older dodge sit in pieces and had the differ all kinds of torn apart 6 months cause he busted up a spider gear and pin

i'll just have to have my fiancee call in a favor to his buddy the mechanic...

oh the looks i'm gonna be getting when i tell him what i want done..*rolls eyes*

Re: a bit indecisive..

Well, you have the internet dont ya??? Start searching! Ive had a hand in building everything from a geo tracker trail truck to a full tube, 1100hp S-10 with 53" tractor tires. (well, it was an S-10 body) Its not a cheap hobby and really a 94 blazer isnt really a great mudder. Parts are expensive and "field fixes" are nearly impossable. If you dont have a repair manual I suggest getting one. Front axles break alot. Front bearings will go out. If you really want to do damage in the mud I would check on the forum for a solid axle swap with steep gears. (4.10 or better).

Re: a bit indecisive..

hate to sound like a quitter, but i'm ready to say "**** IT"...if this things just gonna cost me an arm and a leg every time i take it out and some thing busts, maybe i'll just get a jeep rubicon or some thing ...some thing meant for trails and kicking ass through the mud.....i just took the front bumper off and all that shit...there's ALOT of rust..if i had of seen it before..i wouldn't have bought it...*rolls eyes*...hmmm...maybe now's a good time to look into my want suv...the toyota fj cruiser..as a main ride...and just beat the dog snot out of the blazer, n scrap it when the parts start getting to expensive...yeah..i can NEVER make up my mind..so many decisions..

So if you were cute 2 years ago what do you look like now?

I only mention this because you brought it up and in doing so.. brought attention to yourself. You didn't have to...
