99 Envoy very sluggish, no codes...where to start?
I have a 99 Envoy, 4.3L, and this truck is a dog compared to my sons 98 Blazer. I apparently have 3.73 gears compared to his 3.42, and he will outrun me every time. It is even worse with the AC on.
I plan to pull a pop up with this truck, and right now I doubt if it would haul it. There is no check engine light on or anything, just seems like it stumbles slightly on acceleration. almost feels like a bad plug, but it isn't constant by any means. Just under load. when it is idling, its fine. Has anyone ever run into this issue? Someone else mentioned to me that these were recalled for bad injectors or something...Is that true? Thanks in advance, Shawn |

tune-up.
fuel filter. simplest of things. fuel filter would cause a fuel pressure fault and log and SES code though |

not always, I found this out the hard way on my wifes 96. No check engine light or SES codes, but the fuel filter was so clogged the truck idled horribly and died from running too lean when you hit the gas hard. |

Re: 99 Envoy very sluggish, no codes...where to start?
start by removing the intake hat from the TB, and with a flashlight open the throttle blade all the way and look in the back of the intake, if its nice and clean looking and looks wet you got a leaking pressure regulator, i had this problem on my Bravada shortly after i bought it, and after i replaced the regulator i found out the cat was bad, but i was lucky and only had 50K miles and was still covered under the 8 years 80K miles emmisions warranty, so i had it towed to the dealer and they replaced it, twice, becasue the first one went bad in about two weeks, and they tried real hard to find something wrong with the truck so id have to pay for the second cat, but no dice.
If that doesnt work, start with a full tune up, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, run some injector cleaner thru a tank of gas, and replace the fuel filter. |
