Hey everyone Im new to the forum in search of help for my moms 99 blazer. She was having a problem with it where she would press on the gas to accelerate from a stop and it would just sputter and putt along until you could get it to the higher rpms. I went over to her house and cleaned the iac and the egr pintle and it didnt help. Now i know the truck needs a new cat, so i brought it back to jersey because i work at an STS Tire & Auto and i was gonna fix it there. I drove it about 55 miles and i noticed that it was having trouble shifting out of first gear( it wouldnt shift until youlet off the gas) i got it home and tthis morning i started it up and shifted into reverse and it wouldnt go. It just sits there like its in neutral but at a higher rpm(1100-1300) even if you give it gas it just doesnt move. Im hoping that you guys might have some suggestions or ideas or anything at this point. Thanks everyone in advance

Oh i forgot to put in that it has an 1870( transmission component slipping ) U1064, and U1041
The U1041 and U1064 are ebcm and bcm communication problems if i remember right |

Re: 99 Blazer in big trouble
possible problem with the tranny, but mine was acting up where it wouldnt shift until higher rpms for awhile and it kept throwing codes for misfires and a bad O2 sensor, the misfire code was only every once in a while, but i changed out the O2 sensor and it fixed my problem, this was about january time frame and i havent had a problem with it shifting like that since. if the CEL is on, have the codes checked and if there is one there for an o2 sensor, than i would change that and see what happens.

Re: 99 Blazer in big trouble
ok, transmission component slipping could be one of the shift solenoids going out

Re: 99 Blazer in big trouble
alright, i had originally thought mine was a shift solenoid, but i got tired of the o2 code, so i changed that and havent had any other codes or problems since, but i changed my tranny filter and fluid and checked out the solenoids while i had the pan off, they didnt look too hard, but i would suggest getting a haynes manual and seeing what that says about changing them, the torqe converter circuit solenoid is only $25 if i remember correctly and the others are all right there in that range, i used to work at advance auto parts and checked on those prices a few times for mine.

Re: 99 Blazer in big trouble
I had the shifting problems and such and it was the throttle position sensor. It was cheap enough to try that before digging into the tranny.

Re: 99 Blazer in big trouble
I had the same sort of thing happen to me on my 98 jimmy. I thought the tranny was messing up but had rebuilt the thing less than 3K miles previous. Happened to be the cat being clogged something awful. So you might try fixing the cat first and see if it helps before tearing into the tranny.

Re: 99 Blazer in big trouble
My sonoma did something fairly similar. It needed a new ignition module.

Re: 99 Blazer in big trouble
This should answer your question. It might be too late for the tranny though. Ive seen it happen on a few s10s.
