98 Brav rear end installed. Have some questions.
I installed it on my 97 s10. I do realize this is the blazer/brav/envoy area, but it all pertains to the brav rear.
Why does it lock only higher 2nd gear? Otherwise is a 1-wheel-peel still...I fear lack of power. Am I seeing things or is this rear end an inch or 2 wider than the stock s10 rear?? |

So why does it lock up all lazy late? Top of second in gravel and I've swung around, but through 1st and second is lame
![]() Does GM lsd units just suck this bad or does my 4cyl lack the power to lock it up? |

Re: 98 Brav rear end installed. Have some questions.
it locks up all lazy late cause it's a Coo-Coo Clock Mechanism... as the wheel spins, it winds a spring, once the spring is wound tight enough, it'll lock up the other wheel...
BE CAREFUL!!! I blew my rear diff... (mind you i was in 4 low and "trying" to pull out a shrub...) here's what it looked like after... ![]() If you want a heavy Duty Differential... look at getting an Auburn Posi for it... |

buy a torsen out of a ls1 f-body. they hold up way better than a gov-lock. And you would not have to worry about your 2.2 destroying it, plus it is cheaper.

Re: 98 Brav rear end installed. Have some questions.
So if I were to haul around like.....a 2200lb corolla or make a 1000lb scrap ru, this will be just fine?
I don't think I need to pull any bushes/stumps/buildings/mountains/baby puppies, so I think I'll be ok with this(?)... Can this break without pulling any weight? Goran, were you pulling with gradual weight or ramming at it? |

If I remember correctly, its a 100rpm diffrence between the wheels before the GU6 unit locks up.
