97 S10 Blazer Dual Exhaust
Does anyone know how to run a dual exhaust on a 97 4dr blazer? Me and the local muffler guy couldn't even figure out how someone would go about doing this. The only place to run it to make it match the other side is to run the pipe right past the fuel box and a rubber break line.
I know i've seen dual exhausts on these things.... |

Like true duals? Run the mufflers cockeyed next to each other.

Well the problem isn't where to put the mufflers, its where to run the pipe for the second dual (the pipe that would run out of the driver side). There is just no room for it.

Re: 97 S10 Blazer Dual Exhaust
have them come out and over the rear axle right next to each other and then route it out the other (driver) side

Right, but where does the exhaust pipe actually sit? If you were to mirror the stock exhaust position on the driver side, the pipe would run right into the fuel box.

Well, IIRC, the gas tank sits in front of the axle. Youd run it over the axle beside the pass side outlet, 90* towards the drivers side parallel to the axle, then 90* towards the back.
Thats how ive seen it a bunch of times, but, I dont recall if people were able to keep their spare tires though... |

Re: 97 S10 Blazer Dual Exhaust
run the drivers side over to the passenger side just like where the "Y" pipe runs it.... then run it right beside the passenger side, hell tack the two together............

Re: 97 S10 Blazer Dual Exhaust
almost none of the duals you see on these trucks are true duals, they either have a y pipe or a single in dual out muffler, then the pipes are run down the passenger side and the drivers side crosses over usually right after the axle or while its going over the axle
personally i just put the shortest turbo muffler i could find for pretty cheap on mine, and put a turn down after a short run of pipe, i think it sounds pretty good for only costing $40 for the whole thing, and you dont even see an exhaust outlet if youre going for a clean look Last edited by old_skool_noma : 04-13-2009 at 01:21 PM. |

Re: 97 S10 Blazer Dual Exhaust
Single pipe cut off after the axle and under the floor FTW. Mine sounds just as good as duals and gets great gas mileage.
