97 blazer 4.3-fuel pump labor hours

I don't have time to mess with this, so I'm going to take it into a shop(actually have it towed

). Does anyone know what the Mitchell labor hours are, also what a pump typically runs and also the sending unit, since the fuel gage hasn't worked ever since I've had it? I want to make sure some shop doesn't tell me its 10 hours or some nonsense like that.

Dealer will always be more expensive because they use list price on factory parts, plus they charge like $85 an hour labor.

The pump and sending unit/gauge are a one-peice part. Make sure you get the correct one: there's a seperate one for 2drs and 4drs. (maybe that's why your gauge doesn't work).

I got one for under $100 (IIRC, it was like 3 yrs ago) and it took my mechanic like an hour (changing it in his driveway on a Sat afternoon).

i guess i never compared 2dr to 4dr much but why does the 4dr take an extra hour?

Bought a replacement Delco one off eBay for $280 shipped, installed it myself in an evening.

Try to find the time!

45 min w/ a lift or 1 hour 15 w/o. Do it yourself it's easy.

That number's $240 too low. I wish there was some way to not have to pay for health/etc. insurance and 401k, then it'd be a happier paycheck. PS, DON"T FORGET TO PAY YOUR UNION DUES...
