96 Jimmy Rear Wiper
Hi All!
My rear wiper stopped working as the shaft had seized. I removed the motor, cleaned the wiper shaft, lubed and put everything back as before. Key in ignition, turn on accessory, turn on rear wiper - nothing. Turn off rear wiper, the wiper starts - back and forth. Wiper switch back to "on", then "off" positions - no effect on wiper as it keeps going back and forth. Key out of ignition - no effect - wiper keeps going until I actually start the engine. Then I can turn off. Stop the engine, it starts up again. Etc. Etc. Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: 96 Jimmy Rear Wiper
check whatever relays too. I've had my Jimmy for almost a year now and have never used rear wiper. Just reason to shave it off.

Wagn, the rear wiper is very useful for removing snow off the back window. It handles several inches, too!

Re: 96 Jimmy Rear Wiper
[quote=gsad]Thanks for the response. I checked all connections and all seem ok. Is the board on the motor referred to as the "pulse board", and if so, could this be the culprit? QUOTE]
well on jimmys/blazers/s10/sonomas from 95 up there has been a recall on the front wiper motor due to bad solder connections on the circuit board for the front wipers have not heard of a bad circuit bord on rear but you might the first its a very simple fix take board out and check the solder connections resolder them if they are broken that might just solve the problem ![]() |

Re: 96 Jimmy Rear Wiper
my 99 rear wiper does not work...... There is a little black box on the wiper motor itself, inside is the relays that control speed etc..... I did a little testing and found the + and - on the motor itself bypassing the relay box, and the motor turned on fine. Pretty sure you need a new relay box, I used to have a part number, it's like 40 wholesale and 80 stealer. when I get around to it I might just go to junk yard and buy a new motor as they won't sell the relay box by itself and it's a lot cheaper
