96 Blazer LT 4x4
My sister's Blazer has developed a knock that increases with RPM's.
I don't know the full history, but at one point she a big service due to sludge in the motor. I imagine there was coolant involved and it worked the oil down to point of bearing failure. This Blazer is pretty loaded as far as I can tell. LT 4x4 with towing package. The body is solid and paint isn't too bad for 12 years old. What do yall expect it's worth? The transmission, transfer case, and everything else mechanical works. It has a good bit of new parts on it. I'd expect at least 1500-2000 put into it in the past year. You think it could fetch between 1K - 1.5K to a buyer with a good motor? It is currently running, but sounds pretty bad. |

Sounds about right on the price. Depends on how bad the knock is. Price could be higher if the knock isn't too bad.
Have you tried some 20W-50 oil yet? And maybe some STP? |

Re: 96 Blazer LT 4x4
We haven't tried that yet.
The knock isn't too bad when the motor is cold, but once it warms up its pretty loud. I think its coming from the bottom end. She said it doesn't feel real low on power, so it I doubt its more than a bearing failure. I will try your advice. This may buy her some time. |
