95 Blazer: spare tire latch problems...
a friend of mine has a 95 2dr. Blazer 4X4 with external spare tire carrier.
i havent looked at it, but he says his latch is broken for the spare swing gate release. in otherwords, he cant get it to open. he asked if i would post this to find out if this is a common problem, and what needs to be done to repair it. thanks in advance. |

i dont know right off the bat what it is. a good penetrating oil on all the working mechanisms would be a good idea first off.

Re: 95 Blazer: spare tire latch problems...
It's a pretty simple (crummy) design and any broken or defective pieces should be easy to spot. I posted this link before but can't seem to find it so here it is again. The biggest problem with the factoty latch is trying to get it adjusted so that it doesn't pop open when turning a corner and putting a wrinkle in the quarter panel. I put one on the wifes Blazer2 and it has paid for itself many times... Rear tire safety latch Last edited by Rhotpursuit : 03-06-2007 at 10:05 AM. |
