4x4 not working

So on saturday i went out wheeling since ive put the lift and the wheels on...truck was doing awesome, untill i went to put it in 4x4...its a push button system, and all it does is blink and no engaging....ive heard the encoder motor, and ive hear vaccum lines!!!!! the lights just blink they do not stay lit like they used to do while in 4x4

Sounds exactly like what mine used to when the encoder motor went out. Check the vaccum lines first. Then reset the computer by unhooking the battery for a minute. If the problem comes back it is probably the encoder motor. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT buy the encoder motor from the dealership. They are about $300-$350 if I remember correctly. I don't remember the site off hand but their is a place on the net that sells rebuilt ones for $100 plus a core charge meaning...you send them your old crap one and $100 bucks and they send you a freshly rebuilt one. I have had one for about a year or more and had no problems out of it.

Look at the vac actuator under the battery tray.. Check it for tears or holes and carefully inspect the vac hose going from there to the transfer case switch. Check it for cracks and dry rot.
