Re: 4wd to 2wd conversion

Back in the mid 90's when fullsize blazers only came in 4wd's I seen two people take a 2wd front clip and weld it on to the 4wd frame.

I'm pretty sure there's a guy with 98+ a black 4dr that used to be a 4wd. I don't know his user ID though.

Re: 4wd to 2wd conversion

my suggestion is to A) sell the truck for a 2wd or B) get a 2wd frame and put your parts on it

They're cheap enough you'd be further ahead money wise to buy a 2wd and sell the 4x4. Unless you want to go full custom chassis with air suspension, in which case you'd be scrapping a 2wd frame too.

Re: 4wd to 2wd conversion

what exactly are you looking to accomplish by getting rid of the 4wd.... if all you want is better gas milage then just take out the transfercase, front axle and front diff.... then jsut pop the cvs apart and keep the part that goes into the hub or get 2wd spindles and be done with it... oh yeah you need the tailshaft and rear driveshaft from a 2wd truck though.... but the guy i know of on here did it this way.. its a hack job way to do it but it works and you can barly tell it was a 4x4 untill you acually look at it

Re: 4wd to 2wd conversion

FYI the hub assemblies on the 4wd's are slightly larger than the 2wd's so he'll need that too. I'd say he's wanting to drop it.
