3rd brake light options
The screws that hold in my 3rd brake light are stripped. So are the screw in part that the screws go in to. They just spin.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Should I try yanking them out? Then use some double sided body panel tape along the bottom? |

Re: 3rd brake light options
You could find a tap and die set and tap new holes and put different screws/bolts in.

Re: 3rd brake light options
I just shaved off the bolts and left it off.
Looks 100x better. |

Re: 3rd brake light options
But then there would be the mounting part just sitting ontop of the glass...it would look weird.

Re: 3rd brake light options
Go to the junk yard and find a replacement for it. It would look bad just leaving that plate on the window.

Re: 3rd brake light options
I do have one from previous adventures to the junk yard, but the screws are striped into their holes. That's the main problem I have right now.
I'm going to pull out the screws then set the replacement one on plate. Using strips of body panel tape underneath should hold it pretty firm for now. |

Re: 3rd brake light options
Just get some vise grips to get the old screw out, go to a hardware store and buy new ones.

Re: 3rd brake light options
Like I said though. Yes the screws are stripped. so is the round nuts that holds the screw. I did rip out the screws. but it pulled the part that it screws into with it(which was just spinning in it's spot too). To fix would be getting a whole new back windshield. But i'm not doing that. |

Re: 3rd brake light options
You could just not use that screw.
Double-side tape it back on, and tighten the good screw. |

Re: 3rd brake light options
Both of them are stripped. I'm going to do the double sided body panel tape. H Haven't had time to look at it much lately, but I might actually dremel in nut shape at the top. Then super glue a nut inside and flush with the base attached to the window. |
