2nd gen blazer wont shut off when key turns off...

i got a friend who has an auto 2nd gen blazer and says it wont shut off when he turns the key off but says if u press or release the brake (cant rememebr which) then it will shut off

whats this sound like to yall? if i rememebr correctly i think i remember seeing a thread with a similar problem a good while ago

I'm thinking the same thing. If you have a remote start, then check that to see if it's messed up. They will turn off the vehicle if the key is not in the run position and the brake is pressed. If you don't have one, then I have no idea.

my 98 wouldnt turn off when you turn off the key a few years ago, but it also wouldnt turn off when i hit the brake pedal, i had to get out with it in gear with the emergency brake set and pull the engine fuse under the hood, any time i put it in park or neutral the starter would kick in, it turned out to be my ignition switch.

this happened the first week i had the truck, so the dealer fixed it, they tried telling me that the remote starter caused the switch to go bad, and they removed the remote starter along with the factory keyless entry, they never even knew there was a remote starter on it, they gave me the remotes but they both had dead batteries so no one knew what they were for.
