Exclamation 2000 Blazer Driver Temp Display Issue.

Hello all. New to the group and I also own a 95 S10 PU..

But first and foremost.....

My wifes 2000 Blazer with the Driver Information Compass/Temp display has been acting goofy. The compass works fine but the Temp display reads OC. I already replaced the outside temp sensor loacted behind the grill (I was told that this might cause this issue) .. this in fact did NOT fix it. If it really cool outside it will show a temp of 30 degrees colder then it really is.

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the help.

Re: 2000 Blazer Driver Temp Display Issue.

either you got the wrong temp sensor from the wrong yr....or check the ground
im betting you have the sensor from the earlier yr console

you need this part #....GM part number 15971127

Re: 2000 Blazer Driver Temp Display Issue.

Well I got the part directly from GM and I don't recall the part number but I am hoping it was correct.

Mines been the same way since I bought it, I also replaced the temp sensor and that didn't fix mine either, although I bought a used one. I've asked your same question on a bunch of different forums and no one has ever heard of it, let me know if you get it fixed

Re: 2000 Blazer Driver Temp Display Issue.

Typically OC indicates (Open Circuit) or a bad temp sensor.

To verify, un-plug the sensor, you'll generate an OC on the console.

Re: 2000 Blazer Driver Temp Display Issue.

is it a factory console? did the new part look identical to the old one?

i put a console in my truck over the winter and there are 2 different types of sensors, once will read about 10-15* hotter than it really is.

Re: 2000 Blazer Driver Temp Display Issue.

mine is the factory one, they looked identical. Even if the temp was off why would it say OC? I need to take it down and hook a ground into it to see if that's the problem.

Re: 2000 Blazer Driver Temp Display Issue.

OC = open circuit

You need to trace your wires/grounds/connections/ etc

you shouldnt need to take the console down to add the ground, you can ground it right by the sensor, just figure out which wire goes to the console and which one is ground.

ok I didn't know if the open circuit could be at the temp sensor or the display. I'll try it at the temp sensor 1st.

Re: 2000 Blazer Driver Temp Display Issue.

thanks guys, turns out there is a plug for it on the drivers fender an two wires were pulled out of it, I couldn't find the plug cause it was down in a fender hole, but I fixed it and it works perfect now 8)

Mine always reads 58* at the console unit above your head. What was it again I should look for again?

Re: 2000 Blazer Driver Temp Display Issue.

I have no clue except maybe it could be something wrong with the temp sensor itself.
