1998 Blazer Specifications

I discovered that an advanced Google search for "1998 Blazer" at the site "media.gm.com" returns all kinds of useful info. For instance, I didn't know that the compression ratio of the 4.3 is 9.2:1. And that the step bumper trailer hitch is rated at 3,500 lbs.

Did you know that the 4X4 is only rated at 14 mpg city?

Hmmm, says block heater was standard on all models?

Re: 1998 Blazer Specifications

yeah...I get about 15mpg mixed driving and it SUCKS!!! I just threw a ball on the bumper since it is rated for up to 3500lbs and I doubt I'll be towing anything even close to 1000lbs with it!

Re: 1998 Blazer Specifications

Thanks for the link.

I know that 2wd's always get better mpg that 4wd's, but I have a 98 and my grandparents have a 98 4dr 4wd and theirs gets terrible mpg than mine. I get between 21.5 and 23 believe it or not.

Re: 1998 Blazer Specifications

Sad part is my old 91 Blazer 4 door 4x4 with almost 200K on it got better mileage than my 98 does! It would get 16-18 regularly. I got 18 once with my 98 all highway. City/rural I get 14-15. I couldn't find a 2wd 4 door here in MI and didn't have time/money to travel to another state to get one.
