1994-1996 Paint recall
On the 1994-1996 s10 blazer and pickup there was a recall on the paint do to a project that GM did with water based environment friendly paint!
That resulted in paint flaking and chipping! I'm looking for some documentation on this, maybe one ore two that did get his s10 repainted. I'd be very happy if someone could help me out with this ![]() ![]() |

Re: 1994-1996 Paint recall
A recall never goes out of date, but thats not importent.
The paint was specially bad for the gray and blue/purple s10's. The owner/owners before me was not aware of this recall and therefore did nothing about it. GM made it a "silent recall" and did not announce it, they only performed the recall on owners that complaind about it. But the recall does still excist. Google it and you will find many before me ![]() |

Re: 1994-1996 Paint recall
Most recalls are a forever thing but with GM out of business (at least as General Motors), I wouldn't count on getting anything done.

Recalls are only forever for the original owner. If you are NOT the original owner then you need to look elsewhere for a paint job at your expense.

Re: 1994-1996 Paint recall
Recalls are NOT original owner specific. I've never had a brand new vehicle and I've had lots of recalls performed. Any time you take your vehicle in to a dealership, they should automatically check for any outstanding recalls. They'll do them at no charge especially if they're safety related although I've had a few cosmetic recalls done, too.

Re: 1994-1996 Paint recall
I'm rebulind a 1984 Chevy K5, I'm going to paint it myself. Not my first paint job. If it's your first time painting, take your time and buy some books. Practice on the hood. That you can lay flatt and sand down if you are not satisfied. The S10 is my daily driver, and therefor no time for lengthy DIY prosjects.

Re: 1994-1996 Paint recall
Safety & emissions recalls don't expire......there may have been a service bulletin for paint. If you think they'll give away new paint on a 13-15 y/o vehicle, you're dreamin'!!

HMMmmm. The blue/purple paint has flaked off my 94, and it started to form surface rust, I wonder if the dealer will paint it and repair the rust? lmao.

Re: 1994-1996 Paint recall
No it was not a service bulletin, it was a recall! Take some time and google it! And this is not a recent problem, my blazer has been this way since it was only a few months old! But as staded: The owner/owners before me was not aware of this recall and therefore did nothing about it. And this seems to be the case for some of you guys to!
The only thing I'm looking for is the documentation. |
