02 Bravada Shuts off while driving down HWY

I was driving my 2002 Bravada the other day down the Interstate and it shut off on me while I was driving. There was no warning to it at all. I pulled off to the side of the road tried restarting and it would crank like it wanted to start. Waited about 5 minutes and tried again and it fired right up. I took it to the Chevy dealer and they ran all of the diagnostic tests and nothing came up. Has anyone had this problem or heard of it happening to someone?

Fuel pump going bad? I had it happen once, same thing. Couple weeks later it wouldn't start. It finally did, but it happened died again the highway that night, permanently. I haven't diagnosed it yet, but I couldn't hear the pump priming when I turned the key.

Shut off like no fuel (engine) or shut off like no power?

pull the line off your fuel injector, start cranking the motor, if no gas comes out, then you've got a fuel issue, start with changing the filter first, then work your way towards the fuel pump... check your fusebox to see if you didn't blow a fuse also...

Re: 02 Bravada Shuts off while driving down HWY

I was going about 65-70 when it happened. It shut off like fuel. Electrical systems were good. THe normal lights popped up on while I was coasting to a stop like ABS light and battery light. When I did finnally pull off though, I took the key out put it back in to start and the instrument panel lit up like a Christmas tree... every single light flashed on for a couple seconds then everything was back to normal. The thing that gets me is that after waiting about 5 minutes and contemplating calling a wrecker it started right up. Do you think this is fuel or Computer related? Would a bad fuel pump show up on the diagnostic test that the dealer did?

fuel pumps are a big problem with our trucks / suvs.... i bought my "new" one from a salvage yard for like 100 bucks.. versus 300 for a new one.

Re: 02 Bravada Shuts off while driving down HWY

not really, usually a fuel pump works or it dont, but i have seen that sometimes after they run for awhile or with low fuel level they will get hot and start to cut out, and then after it cools down for a few minutes the truck will fire back up, you should hook up a fuel pressure guage to the engine and drive around to get it to do it, then when it does, as soon as you get to the side of the road pop the hood and turn the key and see if you have any pressure, if after a few minutes you have pressure and it starts up, than id say the fuel pump is at fault.
