'01 Jimmy w/ multiple problems

I noticed the other night my brake lights are on all the time. Then when i went to use the right turn signal it lit up on the dash, but did not blink. The left one blinks, but really fast. Also when you shut off the car, if you are holding the brake pedal it will not shutoff until you release it. When the car is off and you press the brake pedal, the dash and radio come on like the key is placed to the run position. It also popped a P0740 today which is a torque converter clutch circuit fault. From what i have found so far an ignition switch can cause transmission faults. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the tranny when I am driving it. With all these random problems is that a probable cause or should i be looking for something else. Also if it is an ignition switch is it possible to replace in my driveway or am I going to have security problems?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: '01 Jimmy w/ multiple problems

sounds like you got some electrical problems... it could be the ignition or it could be the wiring under the dash or you could jsut have a bad relay or 2 in the fuse box under the hood... i would start there and work your way back to the dash...

sounds dumb but my 96 s10 did the same exact thing. put a new turnsignal switch in it and a few new relays and it was perfect.

First time i turned the keys off and it kept running i was kinda freaked out. lol

I think that's what it might be. I was messing around today and turned the car off while holding the brake. So it kept running, then I turned on the right blinker and it shut off. I called the GM dealer since there was a recall on that part, but it has been done on my car and they said it wouldn't go bad again so no freebe for me.
