00 jimmy front end conversion

i have an 00 jimmy 4.3 4x4. now what i wanna do is swap out the front end for one on an s10. i know the blazer and the s10 are the same but how bout the jimmy? will it fit. i like the look of the bar going through the headlights and because of a recent fender bender i have the means to swap them. i wanna get the black/clear euro headliught but they only make them for the s10/blazer in that style. any help would be appretiated. thanx joe

Re: 00 jimmy front end conversion

from what i have seen at work it should fit your hardest part is probably going to be the headlights but if you search there are several build threads on this

That is the truth. However, we need a bit more info on your truck to help you. What year do you have? If you have a 94-97, You will have to change the core support, grill, lights and bumper. But if you have a 98+, you don't need to change the core support, just the grill, lights and bumper.

Re: 00 jimmy front end conversion

cool i am gald i can do this cause i already have the headlights for the s10 that i wanted. now all i need is a grill and passenger fender. so far the only bad thing about this accendent is the truck being down. i had to pull the frame and repace the uppercontrol arm and knuckle. and the rim but it just gave me the excuse to get 18s and some meaty tires.

Whoops, I'm sorry, I understood it as he wanted to swap to an 00 Jimmy lol. But either way, he didn't say what year S10 he wanted. I'm assuming 98+, so no core support needed. However, I think you need to get some bumper braces and whatnot for the S10 bumper that the Jimmy bumpers don't have.

Re: 00 jimmy front end conversion

im not sure weather or not i wanna swap the bumper? do i need to? i just got a new one for the jimmy. i like the offroad look that it has. big tow hitches sticking out and stuff. and yes 98+ would be desired. i wasnt sure what years it was from i just knew it had the crome bar in the middle with 2 grill peices that are body matched

Re: 00 jimmy front end conversion

Bumper covers are different. The GMC has the dip in the center, Chevy doesnt.

Re: 00 jimmy front end conversion

you need headlights, grill, turns, bumper, valance, and different side bumper brackets. look at my sig, see the things stickin out on the bottom from the sides. those are s10. i had them on when i didnt know they were not needed for the sonoma/jimmy fronts.

Re: 00 jimmy front end conversion

I don't think you technically need to change the bumper, but like BanginJimmy said, the GMC has the dip in it and the S10 doesn't, so it'll probably look really dumb.

Re: 00 jimmy front end conversion

yeah i went ahead and swapped it out. i didnt need the brackets on the sides though. it held just fine. it looks awesome and i cant wait to be able to drive it again. it is at the shop getting inspected. i hope they pass it. they were tryin to give me shit about the headlights. they are black/clears withthe projectors in it. they cost enough they better be legal. eather way i can put the factory lights in and get it inspected and then swap em out again. i just dont like have to do that every year. thanx for the help glad i could do the swap. i will have some pictures up soon as i g tit back.
