00 Envoy problems

aside from the standard wheel bearing needing replacement, My envoy is squeaking every time it hits a bump or when i accelerate or break... it's really annoying? any ideas? When i push down on the front quarter panel the same squeaking noise happens? is it a shock or a ball joint or something any idea?

also the load leveling suspension doesn't work anymore? however the little auxilary aircompressor that it has at the back, when you hit the on switch, it does start pumping. does that mean a sensor or something is gone? or are there 2 different compressors, one for load leveling suspension and one for the auxilary?

thanks for the help

Cheers

Goran

Re: 00 Envoy problems

The air ride in a 00 Envoy consists of two major components. The ride height sensor on the rear differential and the compressor itself. If you hit the on switch and the compressor still makes pressure, then is sounds like the ride height sensor is bad. Super easy replacement.
If one has a compressor that won't shut off, then its either the height sensor again or the compressor needs replacement. Seldom is it the switchover valve that controls whether it goes to the shocks or the aux. air outlet.
I'm a pro at gm air ride systems. I've had enough of them to know. They're easy to fix.

Re: 00 Envoy problems

The sensor is attached to the rear differential. Or should be. There is a little steel rod with a ball and cup on each end. One end is attached to the rear end, the other is attached to the arm on the height sensor.
The sensor itself should only be held on by two 10mm bolts. Pop the rod off the sensor arm by unlatching a little flat plastic "safety" on the cup portion. Use needle nose pliers to pop the cup off the sensor arm. Unplug the electrical connector. Install is the reverse.
Don't be intimidated by it. If you have any mechanical aptitude at all, you can just look at it and figure out what to do.
