Vent door in cowl

Does anyone else have a vacuum actuated door in the cowl above the blower box? I keep telling myself its needed but I didn't see it mentioned in the manual. I have no idea if it was stock or if it came on my truck along with the ridiculous aftermarket a/c system it had.

Thanks

Re: Vent door in cowl

It should be there on all trucks with a/c. It closes when the a/c is in the max position to close off outside air and recirculate the cabin air. Its an OEM item.

Re: Vent door in cowl

What about trucks with heat? Should it be there too?

I double checked in my manual and it does not mention the 'plenum air inlet valve' until it gets to the A/C section of the book.

Sorting out this aftermarket A/C junk has been such a PITA...

Yup, just confirmed that at the junk yard today. I looked at two trucks with a/c and two with heat, both of the trucks with heat only did not have one.

Yeah I didn't see that response until I got back from the yard this afternoon. You do give good info though Mike.
