Re: Thinking of spray painting my s10 post pics of yours if you used spray bomb

I wouldn't do it in all honesty. I sanded and bombed my front end. I like the flat look, but it isn't a good idea really. Just primer it, I wish I wouldn't have done it.

Re: Thinking of spray painting my s10 post pics of yours if you used spray bomb

Buy rustoleum in a can and some mineral spirits. Roll the paint on. Google $50 dollar paint job. Someone did it to a 69 charger if memory serves correct and it can look great. The paint is self leveling and is able to be cut and buffed to a great shine. There are reports of it lasting a few years to. I want to use it to paint my cars, then every year if needed I will cut it down and recoat to keep it looking good.

I rattle-canned the front fenders and hood in the truck in my avatar flat red. It's faded to pink now. Pretty sweet.

If your going to do it at all, obviously you don't mind it looking like crap. I'd say litebulbwithfiero's way sounds the like a better shot then spray bomb. You will never get spray paint to lay flat.

Re: Thinking of spray painting my s10 post pics of yours if you used spray bomb

I did mine you have to do the same amount of prep work to get a decent job so if you can....use real paint if you dont have $$$ and or know how to do it yourself give it a go with the spray cans just dont think its going to look like a "real" paint job and plan on getting flamed on this forum but its your truck do what you want with it im pretty happy with mine

I hate it. I also hTe people that drop in a tree-fiddy and an automatic! No offense to anyone in here. You all have greAt ideas, but I absolutely hate it! It's for newbs and inexperienced drivers that can't handle power IMO. You can't have balls without the stick.

What kind of experience could you possibly have built up at age 17? And your opinion of automatics suck. An auto with a shift kit has a tighter shift than a quick manual shift any day. If your that into shifting, a manual valve body has the fun of shifting and the tightest shifts possible. A common misconception of inexperienced drivers such as yourself. BTW you get NO power from a stick...

Re: Thinking of spray painting my s10 post pics of yours if you used spray bomb

I can't seem to find the fun in an automatic. It's boring IMO. There is a reason that manuals are used in racing somplease let's just be honest with one another. Though our opinions my differ.

If an automatic was identical everyone would use it, but not it is not. I just don like automatics. I had a BMW with a "big six", fullsize with a tree-fiddy and now the sten. I've driven my friends vehicles as well. The best was the BMW, but it was an AT and geared low. It was boring and would have been better with a stick. And again I meant no offense to you or anyone else, it's my opinion and I AM entitled to it as are you.

I'm sorry for my rambling and going off topic. And you are 24 so j apologize but your experience means as little to mean as mine does to you. Age means nothing, it is descrimination just like racism. Obviously I see where you are going with thus, but you must see my point of view as well. Everyone has a one track mind for some reason and I'm sick of it. I lime both, but for racing I prefer stick. And with a 350 you are obviously not looking for fuel economy.

Umm well ya you do, although not much you still get more power from the same engine w/o an auto. You have to remember you're not spinning a 25lb TC full of fluid with a manual.
Freek you can bite my ass, I drive a stick everyday, I like my V8/700R4 combo in my 88 Blazer, it's a nice change on the weekends!

Re: Thinking of spray painting my s10 post pics of yours if you used spray bomb

I'm stumped....if those pics you posted are of your truck, I don't understand why you would want to paint it let alone mess it up with spray bombs. Wish my trucks paint looked that good!

But, if you are gonna do it...I would prep it, prime it and then drive it to Maco and get them to spray it for 199.00. You can't BUY the materials for that price!

I was with ya until that last bit. If you're not going to prep/spray the whole truck, it will most def. look like ass. You're going to have a raised flat black that looks half assed and more professional looking flames on a lower coat. Bad idea.

Search the net, the new thing is brush/roll on painting your car with any hardware store good enamel paint.

And it looks amazing when done.

Re: Thinking of spray painting my s10 post pics of yours if you used spray bomb

Sorry, but there is a huge difference from rattle can flat and flat using a hvlp gun.

Flat paint from a rattle can never goes on even even using duplicolor rattle cans. I bought my set up, already had the compressor, and wow what a difference.

Ever see that bad ass flat black ride that looks super smooth and well done... it wasn't done with a rattle can.

Re: Thinking of spray painting my s10 post pics of yours if you used spray bomb

heres some shots of my truck, been through a few spray bomb stages, been called dr.prymer jr haha I would only suggest doing it though if its a daily dragger/beater you dont care about or, like in my case, everything is getting replaced. Only thing Im keeping are the fenders, I figured I could deal with sanding the 2 panels down, no matter how much of a pain in the ass its gonna be.

If your going to do it dont use cheap paint, the dark blue faded quick and turned like a sharpie bluish purple looks like shit. The baby blue was krylon held up a little better. As far as prepping it goes... well I didnt really just hosed it down and had at it, held up well, but not amazing.

How I bought it...

After it was bagged

Bombed the hood

Baby Blue

Baby Blue Part 2 lol

Green with rusted hood (i know i know but I liked it haha)

All Green

Dark Blue

First off most everybody in drag racing, mud racing, and most any 4x4 sport does use an auto. Second off quit saying tree-fiddy, your rambling already makes you look stupid you don't need any more help.

Only thing I do agree with you on is I would rather drive a stick but only on the street. On tracks you get much better consistent times by removing the human error of shifting. This means (normally) less spinning tires, missing gears, the amount of time it takes to activate the long foot clutch, among other things. Sit back, listen, learn, and stay off your discrimination rant about age cause you sound just like a punk know it all teenager.

Re: Thinking of spray painting my s10 post pics of yours if you used spray bomb

i did it, and i would never do it again

spent $40 on rattle cans to do this:

if you have your mind set that you have to paint your own truck. heres what to do

go buy a cheep gravity fed gun, you can find them for less than 100 bucks

go buy real automotive paint and primer, (and clear if your doing bc/cc)

practice with the gun until you fell comfy and then do your truck

i have painted 3 cars with a $120 gravity fed gun

and this is the last one i did:

theres a link in my sig, the second one

so with the paint and the gun, you might have 250 in a paint job that looks a million times better than rattle can

Big wheels and riding high= donk status
And if you ever decide to get a real paint job, spray bomb and automotive paint don't mix well and you will cost yourself more in the long run just getting it prepped for paint.
