I am wondering when was the exact year that GMC Change the name from S15 to Sonoma?

Wikipedia on the S10 says 1993, but I always thought it was sooner.

yep... 91 it is.... first year of the name Sonoma and 93 was the last of that body style.

well since i have one i can tell you the model year was 1991 but it actually changed in mid year 90, may, june i think. i bought mine in august of 90 sonoma badges and grille with s-15 on the owners manual and in some auto parts stores i have to tell them s-15 like it really makes a differance! there easy to spot the tailgate has big assed lettering across it SONOMA and the 92 and later have it on the lower right hand side if i remember right

it shouldnt make a difference, its still the same truck lol
whenever i go in i just say 85 s10, i remember going into a place with some 15 year old at the counter, said i had an 85 s15, and he said they didnt make s15s in 85 told him it was the same as an s10, only that it was gmc and he said nissan s15 is not the same as an s10 i wanted to facepalm him pretty hard |

i had one douche bag that told me they didnt make the sonoma until 2000 so i asked him to please explain the truck sitting in the parking lot, he went and got a more knowledgable employee

I had a guy try to tell me the only difference between an S10 and an S15 was that the S15 was extended cab.
