I can't help you with the downloadable manual. The smoke you see when it is started is valve stem seals. That is a common problem on these trucks. I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep a check on the oil. As far as mileage, if it is properly taken care of, you can expect at least 250,000 miles or more out of the 4.3. Depending on which balljoint you are replacing; you will need to knock the rivets off the top ball joint to replace it. the lower balljoint is pressed in. Tie rods are easy to change. Take the cotter pin and nut off, then hit it with a tie rod sepereator, loosen the nut at the end of the tie rod and take the tie rod off.

The sunfire seats bolt right in as long as you use first gen bucket seat tracks. Took me like 20 minutes to have both seats in my first gen blazer.

I'm a certified marine technician and I have never needed a manual for this truck. You should be just fine without it. IMO these trucks are so simple you would only need a manual for TQ specs, the rest you can figure out.

My brother-in-law had an astro van with 346,xxx on the clock. It ran hot and cracked one of the heads, and he junked it. A buddies dad had a full size with 334,xxx on the clock when it lost oil prssure and locked up. My 92 had 234,000 when it started smoking and it had 2 collapsed lifters. I rebuilt the motor. Now it sits at 259,xxx. All of these are miles. |

Parts in the UK are plentiful. I found buying parts for my S10 easier and cheaper than for domestic cars so don't worry about it. LMCtruck.com do tailgates and rollpans, and deliver to the UK. They even sent me a free catalogue. I'm not sure of their quality but they have some cool stuff.
Where abouts in the UK are you coming to? I'm just east of Birmingham, J11 of the M42. I have a manual and a load of spare time if you need any help ![]() Last edited by Ilikemice : 08-29-2008 at 06:02 AM. |
