Re: GMC Sonoma SST ??

Oh boy..Well thanks for the heads up. I know the
Hawaiian Gardens or that was what it was suppose to
called up in NMB was one fast slide. We had finished
it and waxed the heck out of it. All workers got the
first ride. One guy who went by Tommy was the first.

We messed up. We put too much wax on. Tommy
had gone under the num 2 tunnel where there was
a fairly sharp L/H turn. Deal was the side skirt was
too low and with the wax, Tommy went flying up
and out and then down onto one of the sidewalks
breaking his arm and ankle... We had to peel the
wax and install a higher sidewall, but it was a riot
seeing Tommy flying up in the air...

Everybody wanted a run after that.

Re: GMC Sonoma SST ??

Thought I'd get an early start for the 30 minute clutch slave cylinder replacement and wouldn't you know it ~ its the wrong one! I got the shield off so I'm ready for a 15 minute job tomorrow when the correct one comes in

I've had a hectic weekend and thought I had to go to Florida for a few days this week but thankfully that got canceled. I did hit the lot at a local GM dealership yesterday and found a few trucks I'm interested in. Pretty good prices but even at that, trucks sure have gone WAY up. I bought a new '07 Grand Prix GT supercharged last fall after I swore that I'd never buy another new vehicle 3 years prior and here I am looking again. I'm thinking I might trade in the GP and just have a truck as a daily driver?

Re: GMC Sonoma SST ??

NAPA called me back about an hour after I posted this morning and said it would be Thursday for the correct slave cylinder to come in. I stopped by Advance Auto Parts and they had the correct one in stock! It's on and working perfectly

Re: GMC Sonoma SST ??

Thanks

I like it and I do get quite a few people commenting/asking what it is. It's still for sale for the right price.

I got those headlight covers on eBay and one arrived broken almost all the way across. The seller gave me a refund because he had no more and told me to just throw them out or do whatever. I tossed them but pulled them back out of the dumpster thinking I'd try to super glue it. I've had some alone time today [wife & kids away] so I got a chance to super glue them, which turned out okay. Once I got them installed I thought I'd share a photo.

The amber lights were tinted lightly from the residue when I waxed the truck with black wax I was thinking the same thing along with another alteration up front but I don't think I'll mess with it much more.

Re: GMC Sonoma SST ??

"slicker than greased owl shit" ~ Now that's slick!

What's funnier than hell is my wife has to drive it tomorrow! Her Jeep's A/C compressor bit the dust today. I ordered a new one a week ago because I knew it was on it's way out but it didn't quite make it in time. The clutch bearing has been making noise but still had cold A/C until today when the bearing seized [and so did the belt].

I need my car tomorrow so she has to take the truck!

She was going to take the Corvette but I reminded her it's been in the garage up on stands awaiting a wheel bearing [no hurry ~ we don't use it]

Moral of the story ~ she should have never said "I'm never driving that thing" when I 1st brought it home. Oh it's much better now and she even commented that it looks 200% better but I still catch myself about to laugh every time I think of her driving the truck. I'll be standing at the door as she leaves tomorrow morning, probably laughing.

Re: GMC Sonoma SST ??

Well, she looked so sexy driving away in the truck this morning! I've talked to her several times today and she said she didn't mind a bit driving it to work, to the bank/post office or out to lunch. Even though she's being passive about it, there's no doubt I'm going to pay for this somehow or maybe I've turned her into a redneck woman? LOL!!!!

Re: GMC Sonoma SST ??

She drives a Jeep Cherokee so she's used to sitting high. She never liked SUV's but that's all she wants to drive now since the Jeep. I bought her a '98 Jag XJR last year and she hated it ~ go figure!

1992 Corvette ~ Quasar blue/tan interior ~ 6 speed [yeah, I required that!] ~ only 58k miles and sold [my sister/brother in law is buying it] and will be delivered to Asheville soon.

I'm not keeping the SST ~ it will be sold.

did it stay local? does this mean you'll no longer frequent our cozy little forum? looks like it was a cool truck. i wish the first pictures would show up so i could have seen the progress as you fixed it up.

btw, i'm about halfway between your home and your mountain home-away-from-home. there's several forum members in my area and we never see each other. hell, there's a crapload of us between the two carolina's and i haven't seen anybody in person in forever. . . except for a kid named Jeff. i've passed him several times lately and haven't had the time to catch up with him and introduce myself. anyways, we'll miss the truck and your updates.

Re: GMC Sonoma SST ??

It was sold to a local guy in Conway, SC but he claimed he bought it for his brother in OH and it will be headed that way soon.

I probably won't frequent the forums

I have no idea why the earlier photos wont show but it did make quite a bit of progress.

Enjoy your trucks guys [and girls?] and THANKS for the fun while it lasted
