Question front tilt hood

Got this done today. Hood won't latch. I'm guessing I need to adjust my hinges. Any suggestions?

Re: front tilt hood

is everything lining up? striker and spring??? does it look like it did b4 you suicided it? (when closed) or is it off centered? check, and triple check to see if its centered, adjustments will help....

Re: front tilt hood

can u post a pic of it closed or as close as it can go? sounds like you may have to drop the hinges a tad. you can insert washers between the hinges and the fender to achieve this... pain in the heiny but its werth it in the end....

Re: front tilt hood

possible pic of the hinges and how they are installed? im thinking you bolted them to the top off the inner fender "lip" and not under ? ? ? hhhmmm, even then you still have like 3/4" and that wouldnt cause all that. is it hitting the computer, radiator cover, cooling lines, sometimes the crossbar hits things that may be it as well

Re: front tilt hood

in the first pic you posted I can see there's one thing that you missed doing. In the how-to on the forum for suiciding the hood it show's to cut the stock hood hinge (which becomes the rear latch

This is a pic of how the stock hinge should slip back into the stock bracket after it s cut. this will hold the hood down.

Re: front tilt hood

the first pic. i hadn't cut them yet. I think i cut them kinda short. i got the hood to close by mounting the hinges under the lip but it sits high up at the cowl. I'm either gonna weld the tabs back on and recut or just go to the junk yard and get another set of the stock hinge brackets and recut those. i still need to tweak the alignment but it closes now.

Re: front tilt hood

Anyone that is using this, is it any more difficult to work on the engine with the flip forward hood? Thought about doing this so as to have a hood that can't be opened by the wind when driving fast (later, when the 2.8L is gone) but I'm concerned with engine access. The other option is to pin the hood. Thanks.

Re: front tilt hood

to me it's easier to work under the hood with it tilted.
