Fluid in my speedo connection in tranny.

Okay, I've got a 90 with a 4.3. I'm guessing there is not supposed to be fluid in the hole when I take off the speedo connector at the transmission. Right? What is involved in fixing this? Do I have to take the entire transmission apart? Is it just a seal? Anyone have this problem. The speedometer only works sometimes, I'm guessing when the fluid allows a connection to be made.

First off,which tranny?
Auto or 5 speed.
You may have a little oil on the parts, but not like pouring out the VSS hole!

Re: Fluid in my speedo connection in tranny.

you should be able to pop it out with a screw driver and it has a o-ring that is now flat and leaking. Bring it to a shop if your unsure. They'll do it no problem.

I'm assuming you have a 700r4 with cable speedo

Re: Fluid in my speedo connection in tranny.

The pick up should still have an o-ring but the title says there is fluid in the connection.

Re: Fluid in my speedo connection in tranny.

Sorry, fell asleep. It's an automatic transmission, analog electric gauges. Thanks for any help.
