does anyone have a dealer installed a/c?
i have an 88 s10 pickup with the 4.3 and i believe i have one of the dealer installed a/c because it looks nothing like the factory a/c on these trucks. it is manufactured by an ara manufacturing co out of grand prairie, tx which i did some research on and i believe they went out of business in the early 90,s. im wondering if anyone else has this a/c system and where i can find the rest of the parts i need to get it working. i would need a new accumulator/drier and all new lines. take out a look at some of the pics
thanks |

Re: does anyone have a dealer installed a/c?
You should be able to get all those parts from an a/c shop and do most the labor yourself. The dryer is a universal type. I have seen the same one on many semi trucks and the aftermarket kit in my old Geo Storm had the same one. It is good that it looks like you have most the fittings. An a/c shop can set you up with the hose and once you have them all fitted they can crimp them on. Don't use hose clamps. Or I know Earls also makes a/c lines but may be expensive. Search http://www.amstreetrod.com/CatalogIndex.php4 for Earl's hoses.

That looks like a sanden 508 compressor. Don't know if that helps you or not.
