bed remove?

Hi, i want to put my bed of to clean the frame of rust.
Therefor i have some questions to the profis here:
I want to lift it under the ceiling in the garage, so that i could get under it.
Is it difficult?
How much is the weight of the bed?

What is with the tank, i don't want to damage someting, here are parts very rare.
What do you do against the rust?
I prefer "fertan"(rust converter) , and underfloor-wax after it.

Thanks!

Re: bed remove?

bed has like 6 bolts 2 way in back 2 up by leaf springs and 2 way up front there are also some small bolys that hold the gas filler neck to the box..... there is 4 screws for each tail light take those out then un plug wiring from lights make sure u take the lil shitty snap clips off the back of the box for the wiring...... i used POR 15 on my frame one time i liked it and then i also used 3M undercoating

Re: bed remove?

Yeah what ^ said, I just used my ratchet straps and ran them across to the tie down hooks at the corners of the bed. put a 4x4 underneath them. And took my chain hoist chain wrapped it around the 4x4 and up it went. I made sure I had it balanced out. That is how I replaced my fuel pump. Just had filled the tank up too. so I yanked the bed off. and within a hour I had the fuel pump replaced and driving the truck.

Re: bed remove?

My wifes a wimp, and she lifted the one side and I lifted the other when I swaped beds on my old Noma.
There is also a couple ground screws attached too the bed from the filler kneck, remove those as well.
You dont have to un do the tail light wiring, just unplug it from the main wire on the frame.

Re: bed remove?

very simple

these beds are one of the easiest to remove in the world

i had m\ine off in less than 30 minutes

fuel tank nothing wil get damaged

all you gotta do is removed the little screws in the filler door area

real easy

unplug the rear wiring harness in the back

take bed bolts out and thats it

is tricky to get off with the stock rear bumper though

the b umper is easy to unbolt as well but takes some time

bugt would make for very easy bed slide back and set down off the end of the frame rails and then you could do it alone for sure without any assistance

in my case i simply tossed mine off and cut it in half with the sawzall and it went tothe shredder with a load i took in

bed is not heavy at all

and i say that with being 135lbs and 6 foot tall skinny dude

but then i can lift a riding mower too

and a 180lb truck iron top loader transmission

and etc

so..

hmmm

good luck
