92 fuel guage

well gotta 92 with a TPI 350 in it and i was wondering if the fuel guage ran through the computer somehow. the other day i was doin my heater core and i had to move the computer around and i accidently pulled a ground off and had no injector pulse but when i hooked the ground back up i lost my fuel guage. everything else is workin, i already tried thirdgen.org but it isnt a camaro or firebird so they dont even answer...

No the fuel gaugse does not go through the computer. (at least it should not but who knows what you did )
Have you checked your fuses? Do your other gauges work? May be unrelated to the ground comming out.

Re: 92 fuel guage

I only assumed but are we talking a 92 S10 with a 350 TPI? Either way Camaro or S truck they do not go through the computer. The gauge is just like any other gauge. It has to have power wich comes off the common gauge fuse. It has ground which is common for the other gauges and a signal from the sender. All that stuff would go through the bulkhead connector by the brake booster. No where near the computer wires.
You can find the signal wire. Should be pink. And check the resitance. Should be 90 ohms+/- full and 0 empty. Might just want to pull the cluster and check the wires from there.

Re: 92 fuel guage

could even be bad contact at the back of the cluster into the harness plug there

make sure all pins look ok there.

make sure ground wire to cluster circuit panel is good ground

just for the heck of itg

never know,,,

Re: 92 fuel guage

ok well i tested the purple wire comin from the tank. and it was around 62 ohms. and seein as how i have 90 miles on the tank it seems about right. and when i rocked the truck back and forth i watched the ohms go up and down and didnt seem to spike weird or anything. now my next ? how much of a pain is it to pull the cluster out?? thanks

Re: 92 fuel guage

It should be easy to pull the cluster. Luckily you should have an electric speedo so there is no cable to fuss with.
