Re: 83 dash removal

Actually, the dash itself comes out pretty easy, the top portion is held on with 4 smaller screws in the defrost vents, then its only a couple more at the bottom and the one in the brace below the radio area, but the hard part is unhooking clips and relays from the back of the dash, this is difficult cus the dash doesnt pull away alot from its location, just take it easy.

Re: 83 dash removal

It makes it much easier if you remove the steering collum, the gauges and headlight switch then disconect the heater wires and vacume lines pull the heater control out as you pull the dash out you will find all the rest of the wires that need to be disconected

Re: 83 dash removal

drop the column down

ive bene here done this in these trucks a few time

the entire dash is one piece and all comesoff the firewall completely

gotta disconnect wireplugs and such its tedious work disconnecting stuff

bolts in lower corners bottom of dash take them out

glove box door off

pull light switch and heater panel and unplug the wiring to them

cig lighter
forgot if you gotta pull the sterio out too but im pretty sure you have to also

you basically are removing everything

no matter what you try to do

itsnot that bad

but then it is

depends on your technical abilities

im not afraid to take car dashes out i have done billlions now for heater core replacements

recently a 95 ford pickup and a 97 plymouth breeze and a bonneville 92

im always the one who has to do them, because everyone else is too scared to haha

good luck
