I have $500 to spend on my truck and not sure what i should det performance wise. It is a 91 Sonoma with a 4.3L and auto. I found a 5/6 lowering kit for $600 but i don't want to spend that money right now. What performance parts should i get? I allready have throttle body spacer, KNN, Flowmaster Exhaust.
Thanks |

Re: $500
shift kits are pretty cheap, only thing is when you truck shifts, it shifts hard
not everyone wants that could also invest in polyurethane mounts/bushings, itll help with cornering |

Re: $500
Right now the tranny shifts really hard from first to second. Not sure if there is a shift kit.

Re: $500
You could get a performance cam, but I think with Installation its going to be more then $500. I bought a Performance TBI unit and Noticed some performance gains.

Re: $500
3/4 drop at jc whitney.com was $310. Comes with spindles, springs, and drop blocks.

Re: $500
i was looking at the jcwhitney store and i found some lowering blocks for the rear and some 2 inch drop spindles for the front. I was wondering if you guys so on that website lowering springs and leafs as i want to go lower with my truck. Also would rear sway bar upgrade be good for handling?

Re: $500
You can tow when it's lowered but keep in mind most trucks lower in the back when a trailer is attached. So since you are already lowered you would bottom out quicker when the trailer is attached. Basically if 5" is the max you can go before hitting the frame and you lowered the truck 3" and the trailer being attached would make it sag 2" in the back then you would be riding on the frame in the back.
You could always install helped bags in the back for when you tow stuff so it won't sag down |

Re: $500
$600 for a static drop lowering kit seems abit pricey. I'd check around on ebay and the classifieds and piece together a kit with used components, although I wouldn't suggest reusing springs or ubolts. I know I got my spindles for $75 and my leaf springs for $100, so $175 for a 2/3. And blocks are only 30 along with springs can be had used for 75 for a total of $280. Just a suggestion.
