350sbc w/ TH350 into a 90' s10 ext cab.
I have a 90 s10 ext cab with a 350sbc and a th350. my driveshaft is now too short. i was wondering if anyone has done this same swap and ran into the same problem and was there another driveshaft you found that fit from another vehicle, i.e camaro, rwd minivan or fullsize van. anything to save me some money. i dont really want to go have a custom driveshaft made, $$$$$ which is a lot of what i dont have. i am baggin my truck on a budget, i have made all my metal parts, (notches, bag brackets, 4 link, 4 link brackets, crossmembers) all by hand. so you can understand how much money i dont have. i would like to know if you found a driveshaft from another vehicle that would either A) replace the sectional after the load carrier bearing, since i am going to have to move that up if i go that route, or B) go with a straight through on piece and eliminate the carrier bearing, which i know are expensive to replace, and what vehicle you got it out of... Any suggestions or options are welcome. i am all ears at this point.
Thanks |

does it pull your driveshaft out at any time? how much of the driveshaft is still in the transmission?

I kinda ran into the same problem with one of my last projects. there is two kinds of them short th350 and a slightly longer th350 which is about the same size of the 700R4. Do you still have your original transmission?

ok ummm........... take a tape measure and measure how long you need your drive shaft and go to the bone yard and find one that is a better fit. or you can get one custom made your choice I would probably do the bone yard you'll pay way less. check the camros and firebirds first and see how they pan out for ya

Yes the TH350 tranny has a 6 inch and a 9 inch tailshaft with the 9 inch it is a direct bolt in swap without it is 2.5-3 inches short. I have a 1984 ext cab and did a 350/s50 swap with a TCI streetfighter tranny with the 9 inch tailshaft and it was a piece of cake. |

Re: 350sbc w/ TH350 into a 90' s10 ext cab.
you need a th350 from a truck or a station wagon
in 2wd form there were THREE lengths 6" 9" 12" 12 is pretty rare andonly came in certain old 1970s station wagons i have seen one in my life it is really super crazy long tailshaft trucks from 73-up use the 9" thisis what you use in place of the 700r4 trannies i cant beleive so many ppl dont know this basic info on chevies good luck! |
