Re: 2.8 to a 4.3

You would need a transmission that bolts up to the 4.3
Idk what you would need to do about the wiring.
Also the mounts are different for a 4.3 too i believe

Re: 2.8 to a 4.3

no u giot them mixed up.... the doner truck is a 94' s10(my avatar picture) which is wrecked. my buddy has a 88' s10 durango with a 2.8 in it. the body of the 1st gen is in excellent shape just dosent have that much balls. so i wanted to take the 4.3+tranny outta my second gen and put it into the 1st gen. and another thing i just thought of is my 94' is 2wd and my buddys 1st gen is 4x4, so will the 4.3 trans work with the transfercase in the 2.8?

Re: 2.8 to a 4.3

Get the JTR 2.8 to 4.3 swap mounts that go on the block. They will bolt right up to the 2.8 rubber mounts.
You can use your second gens motor, harness and computer. You can also use the second gens fuel tank in the first gen so you'll have the pump and all.
You would have to change the tranny's output shaft for the transfer case. I don't know if they are interchangeable from an early 700R4 to a 4L60E even though the 700R4 and 4L60 are the same. The E adds electronics that may change some of the internals
