You are old enough to have seen Volkswagens Harlequin Rabbit or Golf (forget what model). It was from before the color changing paint. Every panel was a brightly painted, different color. Bright red, green, blue, yellow, white, and so on. They looked as if they were built from pick and pull parts.

The one on my friends blazer is from a 91 Cameo -91 was the last year for them and the only year that had the round driving light openings. I got that from a body shop in the mid 90s -it was torn almost in half -I fixed it. I actually had it before I had my first S10!

There used to be a company or 2 that sold aftermarket fiberglass Cameo bumpers -they looked like the 88-90 style with the rectangular fog lights. i thing it was East Coast Customs.

Yes it is amazing, they build at least about 4000!! from 1994 to 96.
It was at first only a marketing joke, but the germans wanted them, so they build them.
And you could win them at Mc Donalds........

Re: 1st gen front end pics

I love the Blazer but.........

IMO,glass the square insets flush with the outer portion of the grill, then set the headlights out to that part, then it would look better, but to me,its like a round peg in a sqaure hole,ya know.
But its your truck, and thats what makes this hobby great!!!

Thank you sir. My old VW's is where I got the idea from. These lids actually came from Harley motorcycles.

I was trying to come up with a way to make them look "stock". In my opinion, flush would be very boring, and in no way how Chevy would have done it. It would look like a piece of plastic with no character to it. Right now it has an old school look to it, but also a modern look. Just like the H3.

I still haven't decided if this is the final way it's going to be.

Re: 1st gen front end pics

I like your blazer, but just think that a square body with round headlights in a square hole look out of place, its a prefrence thing, just not something I would do.Although I have round driving lights in my bumper, but thay are small compared to headlights.
But hey again, its yours, and thats what makes it yours,my wife disagrees with me on this and likes that look as I have seen a few done like that now.

I can't read the German. I don't sprekin zi deutch (hope that is not a bad word I wrote) as well as you use English. But I believe that silly clown Ronald McDonald would do some thing like that.

Gotta be easy to repair paint wise. Replace a fender and if the paint don't mach who is gonna notice!

took a ton of time to not screw up the chrome while heating the plastic to make the swirl but i think it makes all the difference.

Re: 1st gen front end pics

I found this monstrosity behind my bull bar and spots.

I've never seen a grille like it before. The emblem is aftermarket, and was painted with thick yellow paint and put on the red grille. I quickly sprayed the whole thing black, then sanded the badge down to highlight the lettering.
