1994 Blazer to 1987 Pickup A/C swap

Is it compatible?

I have a guy with a '94 blaze that wants to sell me everything out of it that I need so I can put A/C in my truck. I know it's going to be a royal pain in the ass, but is there any difference between the 1994 system and what would have been in my truck in '87 IF it came with A/C?

Edit: He said $200 for everything that I need, that seems kinda steep to me - but who knows.

Well one difference would be if the system is r134 or r12. In 94, you could have either system. Another difference is bracketry. You have the 2.8 and I assume that the 94 is going to be 4.3, so you will need the correct bracketry. You are also going to need to hook up the vaccum lines inside and out, elecrical connections, and swap the hvac controls. Someone on here put a system off a mid 80's on an 82 s10, so it's possible to put this system in your truck.

Copressor will swap, but the plugs style is diffrent. You dont need the acc. bracketry, just swap the compressor. The fittings on the back, the lines are diffrent sizes between the years so you will need the drier etc...

The guy said the truck has the 2.8 - which I wanted because I don't want to have to deal with custom bracketry to mount the A/C compressor. Vacuum lines and electrical won't be too big of a deal. What scares me the most is having to swap out the entire dash (My dash doesn't have the vents) and get the A/C condenser and shit to fit correctly.

I also have my 2nd alternator where the compressor is supposed to mount, so I'm going to have to find a different place to mount that.

I saw a bracket at a local pull a part. It was on a 2.8 and it looked like you could have put an alternator there. I don't know exactly what went there, but it was on the bottom, towards the crank pulley. It was also on the right side of the motor. If the truck is 2.8, it shouldn't be a problem putting it in. The a/c evaporator and condensor isn't hard at all to put in. You have to remove the passenger fender and the radiator, but anyone with common mechanical knowledge can do that. I know you have mechanical knowledge.

I think that bracket is for the AIR pump, I'm pretty sure the A/C compressor mounts where my 2nd alt is, but I may be wrong.

Anyone other than me think $200 is a bit much?

Yup, further investigation says it is...

If you are getting everything to convert for 200 bux, then that is worth it, as long as it works. Besides, it will make the wife happy when she is riding with you and she is cool.

Yeah, tell me about it! I might have found a floormat to help make it a bit cooler too
