1.9 Anybody?
I have the 1.9 engine in my truck and after a little reading I found out it only has 84 hp?! Anyway it seems to pull alright from what I can tell (I haven't driven it much since I bought it cause it needs a new exhaust system, plugs/wires, tires, paint and insurance!) Anybody have, or had, the 1.9? Any simple mods I can do to it to give it a little more GO?

Re: 1.9 Anybody?
I don't think there is much after market products for the 1.9
Do a general tune up. change all the fluids and filters. maybe get some fuel additives to help clean out the junk. Ohhh and really if it came from the factory with 84hp then i probably really only has like 43hp now as cars age they lose power really fast. you could pep it up with low shots of nitrous. the answer to every s series question is put a v8 in it. broken windshield? Put a v8 in it. but you could always try a different route and build a custom turbo kit build the engine. but as far as i know the 1.9 was a Isuzu motor. not many things to do with the lowest of the low motors. you could look at v6 swaps. Weight Reduction.
you could strip all unneeded amenities from your truck. like parts of the interior or shave metal off from places. |

Re: 1.9 Anybody?
Yep I think a v6 swap will be something I'll do in the future...either swap the engine out or swap the truck. But for now I'm keepin this one

and no they do not make any aftermarket parts for the 1.9, 2.0, or 2.2 diesel. Last edited by JChapoton : 11-06-2009 at 12:44 AM. |

Re: 1.9 Anybody?
Not even any tricks? Sounds like this motor was just to pass the time.

Re: 1.9 Anybody?
I've had a S10 with a 1.9 since new (1985). Not a lot of power, but has run great and never let me down. Only thing I have had to do to the truck to keep it running has been to put brakes on, replace the water pump, alternator, and rebuild the carburetor.
As said above, the only aftermarket item avalible is the webber carb conversion. 82 - 85 S-10 P/U Blazer 4 CYL 1.9 , 2.0 W/ HITACHI CARB K696 32-36_DGEV_Electric_Choke 319.95 ![]() http://www.carburetion.com/weber/Dat...696&Model=S-10 P/U Blazer |
